In senseFly’s exclusive new whitepaper, we detail a sample mapping project that compared the efficacy of both platforms. The site in question was a 100 ha (247 ac) mixed-use agricultural area in Assens, Switzerland, which was mapped using a senseFly eBee X fixed-wing drone and a popular quadcopter UAV.
The team’s findings were impressive: flying the senseFly fixed-wing drone in place of the quadcopter reduced the operator’s on-site time by 22 minutes (1.8X quicker). In the case of theoretical larger mapping projects, these time savings would equate to 56 minutes saved when mapping a 200 ha (494 ac) site, which is 2.3X quicker, and a massive 92 minutes saved when mapping a 300 ha (741 ac) site – the fixed-wing approach requiring just a third of the quadcopter’s time on-site.
